TZ/Kenya trip...

After being in Tanzania for 3 months, I took a short trip to Kenya to renew my visa...
I had a great time there. In fact I enjoyed it so much that I decided to move there!
(Well ...that's not exactly how I came to that decision, but anyway. It's still true about the moving tho)
I didn't take my camera along this time as I decided to travel light.
So you'll have to be content with some crappy phone pics. (Did I mention before that I lost my favorite phone [was stolen] that took much better pics, had an mp3 player, video and... etc, etc... It's the 3rd phone I loose!) ...Ok, getting waaay sidetracked here.

We took the "Dar Express" (naturally)
"Express", that is, if you manage not to break down along the way.
I guess we weren't so fortunate... we waited for about an hr. b4 another bus came.
This new driver just flew down the highway! So we weren't that late after all.

My Brithday (2008)...

Besides having tons of pizza at home and enjoying a night out with friends, (sorry not pics of those)
I also got to relax at a 5 star hotel outside Dar Es Salaam on a weekend for my birthday! I had a great time (with Joan who accompanied me) We had fun at the pool, lots of good food, enjoyed the moon rise, slept in a lot, etc. etc. anyway...
We had fun...

Happy Birthday tu Meee....
-So! How does it feel to be almost a quarter of a century old???
-Uh... just like yesterday?

Joan, who had been there before took me to see some interesting sites around there. Like the missionaries' grave yards and some old church buildings, ruins etc...

Ok, so we had our Christmas and New Year after C-mas and NY... wait, it gets better... we had NY before Christmas and Christmas after NY! Confused?? Well it really doesn't matter, we had a great time anyway...

Christmas dinner for Orphans...

I'd been here for only a week or so.
A few days before Christmas a hotel invited 30 of the children from the orphanage that we work with for a Christmas dinner at their place.

Anyway, here are some pics...

The first time I met most of them.

Towards the end they had to wait for the bus to come pick them up.
So we had to entertain ourselves for a while; one of the girls taught me how to count from 1 to, well, 20 in Swahili! ... moja, mbili, tatu, nne, tano, sita, saba, nane, tisa, kumi, ....kumi na moja, kumi na mbili, kumi na tatu, etc, etc... ishrini = 20! :D

the kids really enjoyed it and had so much fun especially eating their spaghetti noodles. heh!
