Jobs. jobs, jobs...

Here's a bit of what I do when I disappear from my blog for months at a time (when I'm in Rio, Brazil)...
Perhaps because I don't find this part so interesting since I feel it's just "going through the motions" most of the time.


But there are some great times, highly educational times... tiring? -Yes. but I've also made some great friends and met some really interesting people in this line of work. ;) What is this line of work?   
Mostly reception at international events, conferences, fairs, business dinners etc. Some interpreting/translating involved from time to time. Modeling. Filling in as an extra in commercials and/or movies.

Sounds fun? Well, some of it is, but not so fun when you have to stand ALL day in 5 inch heals, while looking still looking sharp and smiling, always smiling.* XD

I have a nephew!

(aka: I am an aunt!)

No, it's not Angelina Jolie and her latest adoption.
It's my gorgeous sister and her offspring. :)

He waited just for me to arrive and was born two days latter! (But still 10 days early)











Yay! Now grandma has a grandson; everybody is happy, and Ang is still free to travel the world and leave baby-making to next sister in line. :P (for now, at least.)

So, I changed a lot of diapers (nothing an older sister hasn't been trained in. :P), gave a lot of baths etc...
But when it came to helping with the "night shifts", dude, I totally sucked! (I blame it on the jet-lag)
But you know, they say when(if) you have your own you become magically alert and awaken with any slightest noise. (aka: Not sleeping soundly EVER again. :S)
So why do we go to bed so late, and sleep-in as often as possible?? The answer is simple: Because we can!! Nyahahaa....

Rio-São Paulo-Dakar-Freetown...

...Starting off with a bus trip from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo to catch a plane to Dakar... to catch my next plane to Freetown, Sierra Leone! :)

...without them I would have to spend 28 hrs in a horrid airport till my next flight!

I had a great stopover, Senegalese seafood, new friends, and stayed in a beautiful house...












(And they EVEN had the same book I was reading lying around!)

Time to get moving again...

Once you arrive at the Sierra Leone National Airport you'd think all is over...

...Wrong again! You still need to get across the bay by boat, helicopter or hevercraft .
(if it's working) ...That's me in the chopper :D!
